Passover commemorates the deliverance of the Israelites from bondage in Egypt and displays how The Most High brought his righteous indignation down on Egypt and their gods utterly obliterating them. As the destroyer (the angel of death) "Passed over" Egypt and slaughtered the firstborn of Egypt. It also illustrates how the Israelites were kept safe.
